Problem Solving

With the need to solve this basic ‘everyday carrying problem’, the innovative mind of Stuart Crumpler led to the creation of the first ever Crumpler bag. This same combination of innovative minds solving ‘everyday carrying problems’ continues to run through the creation of every Crumpler product to this day.

Simple to Make, Made to Last

The first Crumpler bag utilised a one-piece template, which affectionately became known as ‘Mr Pattern’. Starting with a blank piece of paper and the intention to create an extremely strong and durable bag without scrimping on quality, we worked through all the steps to simplify the design process. Our design mantra remains: ‘Simple to make, made to last’.

Pattern Making

We still diligently make every prototype the old fashioned way in our design studio in Melbourne, Australia, using just a knife, cardboard and fabric to turn our sketches into real products, testing and problem solving the smallest of details.

Material Selection, Hardware and Details

We take great care in making sure we choose the strongest materials for the job - bordering on overkill - so you can be reassured that your bag won’t fall apart when you’re out there exploring the world.

Testing is the fun (but serious) part

For our bags and luggage to make their way out of the design studio and onto the streets, we need to know they’re as tough as can be. We take great pride (and enjoyment) trying to ‘break’ them, with every Crumpler product going through a series of lab and life tests, each one more intense than the last.

Manufacturing

Once we have a design and prototype that we’re happy with, the next step is manufacturing. We work hard to find great manufacturing partners around the world who are as committed to product quality and responsible manufacturing as we are. We work closely with them to ensure that every stitch and detail of the bag design is translated as diligently, simply and purely as it was conceived.

Customers

We put the effort into designing and producing the best bags and luggage on the market so that you can feel confident and proud to use Crumpler products to solve your ‘everyday carrying problems’, every day of the year.

Make Things Better

‘Make things better’ is an all encompassing, high level Crumpler ethos that challenges us to do our best every day, in everything we do. It guides how we design and make our products, how we source raw materials, who we choose as partners, how we serve our customers and much, much more.

We hope you enjoy our products as much as we enjoy creating them!
