To help wick away perspiration, the rear of the bag and underside of its harness both feature Air Mesh padding, while the rear venting system keeps fresh air circulating between the bag and your back.

WATER RESISTANT

The bag outer is made from water resistant materials.

TORTURE-TESTED

Before you take your Dry Red on a holiday or business trip, we take it to hell and back –a travel simulation torture test that sees every prototype dropped, dragged, beat up and opened and closed umpteen thousand times. A bag that survives that can survive anything.

Light, roomy, smart and practical

By Phillip Dawson | http://www.philldawson.com

I was looking for a lighter, more conservative-looking bag to replace my aging bright green 'King Single'. Although I still love that bag and it has never failed me, it was feeling heavy and looking a bit crazy. I went in to a Crumpler shop in Melbourne looking to buy a smaller bag, thinking I'd get the 'Private Zoo', but also tried on a few other bags. I went with the black 'Dry Red No 5' and have used it for a week now. The first thing I've noticed is that it feels much lighter with the same gear in it compared with my old bag. I can easily carry this around all day, even when fully loaded. Also, although this bag looks smaller, and it probably is, there is oodles of practical room. Taking my laptop out of it is much quicker and easier. I use the hidden bright red pocket closest to my back for storing my Kindle, and it is very convenient. The front pocket has useful pen-holders if you're into that sort of thing. On long walks with the bag on I feel less warm on my back than with my old bag, which should be nice in summer. Very happy with the purchase, and looking forward to years of trouble-free use.

Travelling made easy

By Ben Teoh | http://www.hellobenteoh.com.au

I was looking for a tough, small-mid sized backpack that I could use on my daily commute on the train, but also be versatile enough as hand luggage when I travel. If you have a good read of the features of this pack, you'll see that it's full of storage options. On paper, they look great, and hands-on, they're even more impressive. The laptop compartment is well padded, with a well sealed zip. The front compartment is surprisingly roomy, with plenty of space for my quick-access items including my 10" netbook (yeah sometimes I carry my laptop and netbook). The expandable main compartment fits everything I've thrown at it so far. The cable pouch is a nice addition, and so is the sturdy grab handle. I can't be more pleased with my purchase, and I'm sure this will be one I'll have with me for years to come.

Perfect Cabin Bag

By Weiwern Hague

Just purchased Dry Red No. 5 on the weekend to use in conjunction with my trusty Barge I have had for a few years. The Dry Red 5 is the perfect mix of spacious well thought out compartments whilst still being compact enough to shove under your seat when flying economy. Saying that it still looks the part and does not to look too low brow in the QC lounge or flying in J. As I tend to travel abit I was most impressed with the following: 1.) Security Screening your laptop at the airport is no longer a drama as the Dry Red 5 has a dedicated side loading well padded pocket big enough for my macbook pro 15" and ipad + case. This means you do not have to open the main compartment of your bag which I always hate when your are in a rush of fear of something dropping out unnoticed. 2.) The main compartment of the bag is very spacious and can accommodate what I call "bag within a bag" I always pack a book, ipod, psp, all your pocket goodies wallet, phone, passport, boarding pass etc in a neoprene sleeve which I can easily take out of my main bag before stowing in the overhead locker or shoved under my seat. It also means it's very easy to shove back into the bag when you have reached your destination. 3.) Love the ergonomic handle at the top of the bag. This makes it very easy to shuffle down the aisle of the plane in the rush to disembark. It really irks me when the bloke in front of you slings on their bulging backpacks taking out everyone in a 3m radius. This way you can hold it comfortably until you find more space to put it on your back. 4.) Additional charger bag. Love the thought put into providing a mini zipped bag to stow your chargers as the prongs always tend to damage your other cargo. 5.) Legendary Crumpler toughness. You know this bag will last forever. I have to come up with new excuses for my wife every time I want to buy a new Crumpler as you can never say your bag is broken! Best travel companion bag I have seen yet. Just get one you wont regret it!

Passed with flying colours

This was the first Crumpler bag I purchased and from the way it served me on my recent trip around the US I would happily buy more. Whilst I didn't plan on taking my laptop overseas with me, I travel a lot for work and my regular laptop backpack looked a bit thin in a few area and the with one look at my laptop you can tell the protection it provided was less than idea. The Crumpler was big enough to carry all the junk I needed for the long trip from the west coast of Australia to the east, to the west coast of the US to the east. Empty the bag is extremely light for something made from such strong material, it is comfortable against your back and on your shoulders and never feels like it is moving a way you dont want it to. The buckled backflap while not lockable is tricky enough to deter a would be theif from quickly snatching your goodies but simple enough that things are easy to get to when you need them. The seperate pouch in the main pocket was fantastic for holding all the boss lady's personal items when she didn't want to carry a handbag and the laptop slot made for a great place to stash paperwork required quickly. I have just come back to work with it loaded up with laptop and all the accesories that includes and the extra weight feels like nothing due to the padding in the back and on the straps. Without a doubt the most comfortable usefull backpack I have ever owned.

Amazing

The Backpack for Everyone

By The Travel Bug | http://thetravelbugtv.com/editors-picks/the-backpack-for-everyone/

The Dry Red No 5 is the bag of choice for those looking for a multi-tasking pack with added style. It’s quite compact for the amount of space it provides and is made for those that like to have everything in it’s own place. It features a really helpful mini office organiser in the front, a sturdy padded sleeve for a 15-inch MacBook or similar at the rear, and in the middle there’s an expandable cargo space for all your other things. To keep your plugs and chargers in order, it even comes with its own cable pouch. In all there’s nothing we could fault with this bag. The price is right for something of such quality and the build quality means it will last a lifetime.... see link for full review

Just Brilliant!

By Kerri

I love Crumpler, have been buying their bags for years now. Have a trip overseas in a few days and needed a cary-on bag that was practical for holidays. This bag definitely fits the bill! It's amazing how much it holds and the laptop space is soooo soft and roomy! And you also get the little pouch/bag for cables and plugs! Once again, just wonderful, hard wearing bags from Crumpler again. Thanks guys for all that you do!
