love it, almost

I love this bag, I've been using it most of the year and it still looks as god as when I first got it. It has survived being thrown around, left in awkward positions, through heavy rain. My laptop is always safe and has not gotten wet in the rain and the extra padding protects it from drops. My only complaint (if you'd call it that) is it's a few cm's too small. My laptop has a cover and only just squeezes in snuggly, and the bag isn't quite deep enough to fit my laptop, books and everything else. It is a very good buy, though if you carry a lot, go one size up.

Worth it

This is the perfect serious backpack for a small woman. I haven't found any other backpack that is small enough for my frame but still has the padding and chest & waist straps I need to carry heavy stuff without killing my shoulders. It's also deceptively roomy: I can fit my 15" MacBook Pro and two BIG textbooks in it (though you can tell it wasn't meant for a laptop that large because the little velcro flap doesn't quite close). The outer side pockets can hold a bottle of water or a compact umbrella, though not if the inner compartment is completely full of rigid items. There are a bunch of extra pockets inside--I just found two that I didn't know were there. On the front of the laptop pocket, there's a 5x7" open pocket, a slightly smaller zippered pocket, two small velcro pockets (the larger is fist-sized), and two pen slots. On the front inside surface, there's a mesh zippered pocket that's about 11" long and 4" wide (for your...maps and spatulas?), and two flat velcro pockets where I could fit one of those pint bottles of Evian. The backpack looks amazing and the straps are easy to adjust. I might complain that I keep scraping my knuckles on the zipper because it doesn't open very wide and the fabric is fairly stiff, but I can avoid that if I'm conscious of it.
