Wholphin No. 14 @ Speakeasy Cinema

Crumpler is thrilled to be premiering our new cinema commercial at the upcoming Speakeasy Cinema launch screening of Wholphin No. 14. Speakeasy Cinema crosses a big screen with a dive bar, a cafe and a creative studio. It’s inspired partly by Austin’s Alamo Drafthouses, partly by the best of Melbourne’s lo-fi drinking dens, and partly by the risk-everything attitude of 1920s saloon keep Mary Louise Cecilia “Texas” Guinan, who had never heard of a cup holder. It’s not illegal, but it is worth keeping to yourself.

Launched in 2009, Speakeasy screens at various locations around Melbourne’s inner city. The program is focused on the weird, the wonderful and the hard-to-find, sometimes screening titles that don’t make it to local cinemas at all. In the vaudeville spirit of the speakeasy, you might also catch a director Q&A, a short film or, if you’re early, a spot on Texas Guinan’s knee.

When: Sunday 6th November, doors 7pm, shorts start at 7:30pm and run for 90-ish mins.
Where: The Buffalo Club, 22 Sutherland Street, Melbourne
Tickets: $12+bf from Moshtix or at the door. www.speakeasycinema.com.au

Crumpler Supports Sydney Film Festival 2011

As huge fans of film, we are proud to announce that we’re supporting the Sydney Film Festival for the second consecutive year. To mark the occasion we have once again made custom Crumpler bags for the festival VIPs. The 58 year old festival kicks off today and runs until June 19th, screening over 200 movies. That’s a lot of bums on seats eating a LOT of popcorn.  To show their love for us and ours for you, we’ve got 2 FREE tickets to the festival closing night on June 19th at State Theatre up for grabs. All you need to do is tell us what Crumpler bag we have customized for this year’s SFF VIP bags. ( Hint: It’s a messenger bag) Send your answers on a virtual postcard to thecourier@crumpler.com.au. The first correct answer wins. Easy!
